Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly. Good air circulation at planting time helps reduce powdery mildew.

Care Tips

Water regularly throughout the growing season. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued bloom and prevent excessive self-seeding. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 2–3 years in spring when the center of the clump begins to die out. Monitor for powdery mildew in late summer- this variety has improved resistance, but good air circulation always helps. The rich, deep raspberry-wine red flowers are produced over a long season and are highly attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies.
