Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in well-drained, fertile soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball. Provide a support structure- Bathsheba can be grown as a large shrub or pillar climber. Space 6–8 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the canes.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently throughout the season. Deadhead spent blooms for continuous flowering. Prune in early spring to remove dead or damaged canes and shape. Fertilize with a rose fertilizer in spring and midsummer. Good disease resistance. The large, rosette-shaped, warm apricot flowers carry an exceptionally complex, multi-note fragrance including notes of myrrh, old rose, and spice. Bathsheba is considered one of the most beautifully fragrant of all David Austin roses.
