Cupid Bleeding Heart

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space 12–15 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch around the base to retain moisture and keep roots cool.

Water consistently throughout the growing season. This compact variety holds its foliage better through summer heat than old-fashioned bleeding heart. Deadhead spent flowers to prolong bloom. If foliage begins to look tattered in midsummer, trim it back and it will re-flush in cool fall weather. Divide every 3–4 years in early spring. Slugs may be an issue in cool, moist conditions. All parts of the plant are toxic if ingested.
