Sunstruck False Sunflower

Plant in spring or fall in average, well-drained soil, spacing 24–30 inches apart. Sunstruck is a false sunflower (Heliopsis) with bright golden-yellow flowers and attractively variegated foliage — the green leaves are marked with yellow, providing interest even when not in bloom. It adapts to average conditions without special preparation. Water regularly for the first few weeks.

Deadhead spent blooms to keep new flowers forming through the season. Cut back by about one-half in midsummer if plants become tall or floppy to encourage fresh, compact growth and continued flowering. Divide every two to three years in spring to maintain vigor. No heavy fertilizing needed. The variegated foliage and long-blooming golden flowers provide multi-season interest. Excellent for cutting. Attractive to bees and butterflies.
