Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Space 8–10 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Care Tips

Water consistently after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought. Little pruning is needed- the horizontal, tiered branching structure is the plant's most distinctive feature and should never be heavily pruned. Remove dead or crossing branches in early spring. Fertilize lightly in spring. The flat, lace-cap-style white flower clusters held horizontally along the branches in spring are stunning. Attractive red-to-black berries in summer, and vivid red-purple fall foliage complete a superb four-season display. Largely pest-free.
