Penny® Yellow Blotch Viola

Plant in early spring or fall in moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Penny Yellow Blotch is a compact viola with soft yellow flowers marked with a dark central blotch — a charming, refined color combination. Violas are cool-season plants that perform best in spring and fall. Space plants 6–9 inches apart and water regularly. They tolerate light frost and may overwinter in mild climates.

Deadhead spent flowers regularly to keep new blooms forming. Fertilize every two to three weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Water consistently. Violas are smaller-flowered than pansies and often more cold-tolerant — they can bloom through winter in mild climates. The Penny series is particularly refined and compact. Violas often self-seed and naturalize over time in appropriate conditions, popping up in charming, unexpected locations.
