Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in moist, humus-rich soil in partial to full shade, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Seersucker sedge is a bold, textural native plant with broad, heavily puckered leaves that create a distinctive, quilted appearance. It thrives in moist, shaded conditions and near water features. Work compost into the planting area. Water well and mulch to retain moisture.

Care Tips

Keep soil consistently moist throughout the growing season — this sedge will not tolerate drought. Remove old or tattered leaves in early spring before new growth begins. The bold, puckered foliage makes a dramatic statement in the shade garden and near water features. No fertilizing is needed in organically rich, moist soil. An outstanding native sedge for creating bold texture in moist, shaded garden settings.
