Prairie Winds® Totem Pole Switch Grass

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 2–3 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Highly adaptable to clay and poor soils.

Water regularly the first season; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Cut back to 4–6 inches in late winter or early spring — do not cut back in fall. Divide every 4–5 years in spring. No fertilization needed. Largely pest-free. Totem Pole has an exceptionally narrow, rigidly upright, columnar habit — like a tall, stately totem. The tight, vertical form makes it ideal for formal accents, narrow spaces, and tight corners where a spreading grass would not fit. The blue-green foliage turns warm gold in fall. A bold architectural grass with a commanding presence.
