Plant in spring or fall in average, well-drained to moist soil, spacing 24–30 inches apart. Prairie Sky is a switch grass variety with outstanding, intensely blue-green foliage — one of the most vividly blue of all switch grass selections. It adapts to a wide range of soils including moist and clay conditions. No special soil preparation needed. Water well at planting.

Cut plants back to 4–6 inches in late winter before new growth begins. The intense blue-green foliage is the defining ornamental feature, providing a cool, striking color all season before transitioning to golden-yellow fall tones. No fertilizing needed in average soils. Prairie Sky's outstanding blue color makes it exceptional in mixed borders where a strong blue foliage accent is desired.
