Blue Heaven® Little Bluestem

Plant in spring or fall in well-drained to dry, lean soil, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Blue Heaven is a little bluestem variety selected for its exceptionally intense, steel-blue summer foliage color — among the bluest of all little bluestem selections. It adapts to poor, dry, sandy soils without special preparation. No soil amendment needed. Water regularly through the first season to establish.

Cut plants back to 4–6 inches in late winter before new growth begins. The outstanding blue summer color, copper-orange fall color, and persistent fluffy seed heads through winter provide three seasons of interest. No fertilizing needed in lean soils. Blue Heaven's exceptional blue color makes it one of the most ornamental of all little bluestem varieties. Outstanding for naturalistic plantings and mixed borders where bold, blue foliage color is desired.
