Ha Ha Tonka Little Bluestem

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Little bluestem thrives in lean conditions- avoid rich or wet soils.

Water regularly the first season; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Cut back to 4–6 inches in late winter or early spring before new growth begins. Do not cut back in fall- the fall and winter color and structure are excellent ornamental features. Divide every 3–5 years in spring. No fertilization needed- lean soil produces the best, most upright growth. Largely pest-free. A reliably upright, well-behaved little bluestem with excellent fall color.
