Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture. Choose a sheltered spot out of drying wind.

Care Tips

Water consistently throughout the season- maidenhair fern requires reliably moist conditions and is less tolerant of drought than many other ferns. The delicate, fan-shaped leaflets on glossy black stems are extraordinarily beautiful. Remove old or damaged fronds in early spring before new growth emerges. Divide every 4–5 years in spring if desired. No fertilization is generally needed. Largely pest-free. One of the most elegant and refined ferns for shaded garden settings.
