Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained, sandy or rocky soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Thrives in lean, coastal conditions.

Care Tips

Water regularly the first season; once established it is highly drought tolerant and excellent for sandy, coastal, and lean sites. Cut back to 4–6 inches in late winter or early spring- do not cut back in fall. Divide every 3–5 years in spring. No fertilization needed. Coastal Little Bluestem is selected for particularly good salt tolerance and adaptation to coastal conditions. The blue-green summer foliage transitions to warm copper-orange in fall. Outstanding for seaside and dry gardens. Largely pest-free.
