Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained to dry soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Lean, dry conditions produce the best growth.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is highly drought tolerant. The large, bright yellow flowers open in the evening and remain open the following morning- they are especially vivid and fragrant in evening light. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Largely pest-free. This selection stays more compact and upright than straight species evening primrose, making it a much better-behaved border plant.
