Planting Tips

Plant in average to lean, well-drained soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Excellent drainage is essential.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; moderately drought tolerant once established. Shear back by one-third immediately after the spring bloom to maintain a compact, dense habit and encourage strong regrowth. Without annual shearing, plants become woody and open in the center. Fertilize lightly in early spring. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. The rich purple flowers create a vivid carpet of color in spring that is one of the most reliable and striking early-season displays in the garden.
