Tianshan® Seven-son flower

Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Space 8–10 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Water deeply and regularly the first 2–3 seasons. Once established it tolerates moderate drought. Little pruning is needed- remove dead or crossing branches in early spring. Fertilize lightly in spring. The white flowers in late summer are lovely, but the real show comes afterward- the papery, salmon-pink to red bracts that surround the seed clusters persist for weeks and are among the most ornamental fruit displays of any hardy shrub. The attractive, peeling tan-and-cream bark adds winter interest. Largely pest-free.
