Common Boneset

Plant in moist to wet, average soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. This native perennial adapts to a wide range of conditions including partial shade and clay.

Water consistently and generously- boneset naturally grows in moist meadows and along stream edges. Once established it tolerates moderate drought but looks best with reliable moisture. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring, or leave the seed heads through winter for birds. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. No fertilization generally needed. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. The flat clusters of fuzzy white flowers in late summer are outstanding for a wide range of native pollinators, particularly butterflies.
