Crested Surf Japanese Painted Fern

Plant in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space 15–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture.

Water consistently throughout the season. Japanese painted fern performs best in consistently moist, cool, shaded conditions. Remove old or damaged fronds in early spring before new growth emerges- the new fronds are among the most beautiful of any fern as they unfurl. Divide every 4–5 years in spring if desired. No fertilization generally needed. Crested Surf has attractive crested frond tips that add an extra layer of refinement to the already beautiful silver and burgundy frond coloring. Largely pest-free.
