Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil in partial shade, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Ivory Prince is a hellebore that produces large, outward-facing, ivory-white flowers from midwinter through spring. It has an improved, more outward-facing flower habit that makes the blooms more visible than many hellebores. Incorporate compost or leaf mold into the planting area and water well. Mulch generously.

Care Tips

Cut back old foliage to the ground in late fall before the flowers emerge to showcase the winter blooms. Hellebores are long-lived and resent disturbance — choose the planting site carefully. They self-seed readily to naturalize over time. Fertilize lightly in spring after flowering. Keep soil consistently moist. All parts are toxic if ingested. The outward-facing flower habit of Ivory Prince makes it one of the most garden-worthy hellebore varieties.
