Large, heart-shaped matte green leaves form a dense, low groundcover that thrives in deep shade. The curious, jug-shaped maroon flowers are hidden beneath the foliage at soil level.

Plant wild ginger in a shaded area with rich, well-draining soil. Space plants 12-18 inches apart. Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer. Remove any dead or damaged leaves to encourage healthy growth.
