Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in moist, humus-rich soil in partial shade, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Visions in Red produces rich, deep red flower plumes on a compact plant with attractive, dark green foliage. Incorporate compost or leaf mold into the planting area and water well. Mulch 2–3 inches deep. Consistent soil moisture is the single most important factor in astilbe success.

Care Tips

Keep soil consistently moist throughout the growing season. Divide every three to four years in spring. The deep red flower color makes Visions in Red one of the most dramatic of the compact Chinese astilbes. Dried plumes persist attractively into fall and winter. Fertilize in spring with a balanced fertilizer. An outstanding shade perennial for creating bold, richly colored displays in moist, shaded garden settings.
