Plant in moist to average, well-drained soil. Tolerates clay and a range of soil conditions. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought, especially in partial shade. Mow or shear the planting to a few inches in early spring to remove old foliage before fresh new growth emerges. No fertilization needed. Divide clumps every 4–5 years if desired. Essentially pest- and disease-free. A tough, adaptable native sedge for naturalizing partially shaded areas, woodland edges, and low-maintenance landscape beds.
