Electric blue flowers appear in late summer and autumn, followed by leaves that turn a fiery mahogany-red. This ground-hugging perennial spreads by rhizomes to handle difficult slopes and dry soil with ease.

Ceratostigma plumbaginoides prefers a sunny to partially shaded plant for robust flowering. It flourishes in well-drained, moderately moist soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH.
