Planting Tips

Plant in moist to wet, humus-rich soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture. An excellent choice for rain gardens and moist borders.

Care Tips

Water consistently and generously- turtlehead is a native wetland plant that thrives with reliable moisture and tolerates wet conditions. Pinch stem tips back in late spring to encourage a more compact, branching plant. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. The snapdragon-like pink flowers in late summer and fall are uniquely shaped and highly attractive to bumblebees, which are strong enough to force their way into the closed flowers.
