Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture.

Care Tips

Water consistently after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought in shade. Sweet woodruff spreads by rhizomes to form a dense, weed-suppressing groundcover- divide in spring to control spread in smaller areas. Cut back or mow in early spring to tidy and encourage fresh new growth. No fertilization generally needed. The small, white, star-shaped flowers in spring are delightful, and the whorled, sweet-hay-scented foliage is pleasant all season. Largely pest-free and deer resistant.
