Big Daddy Hosta

Plant in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space 36–48 inches apart- this is a very large hosta that needs plenty of room to develop its full potential. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep.

Water consistently throughout the season- adequate moisture is essential for healthy, lush growth. Slugs and snails are the most common pests on hosta; use slug bait or barriers as needed. Remove tattered foliage as needed. Cut back all foliage in late fall after frost. Divide every 5–6 years in spring only if desired- large hostas like Big Daddy can be left undisturbed indefinitely and become more impressive each year. The massive, deeply cupped, glaucous blue leaves are spectacular.
