Elegans Hosta

Plant in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space 36–48 inches apart- Elegans is a very large hosta. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch generously.

Water deeply and consistently throughout the season. Monitor for slugs and snails. The massive, heavily corrugated, powdery-blue leaves are most striking in deep shade where the blue color holds best. Cut back all foliage in late fall. Allow the plant several years to reach its full, impressive size- it improves dramatically each season. Divide every 6–8 years in spring only if truly needed. Fertilize lightly in spring. A classic, bold specimen hosta for the shade garden.
