Variegated Archangel

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained to average soil in partial to full shade, spacing 12–18 inches apart. Variegated archangel (Lamiastrum) is a spreading groundcover with attractively silver-variegated leaves and yellow flowers in spring. It grows vigorously and spreads readily to cover shaded areas under trees. Incorporate compost into the planting area and water well.

Cut back hard in midsummer if plants look tired, spread too aggressively, or the foliage becomes tattered — this groundcover recovers quickly and produces fresh, attractive new growth. Keep soil consistently moist. Divide or trim edges to control spread. Fertilize lightly in spring. The silver-variegated foliage brightens shaded areas effectively throughout the season.
