Water consistently and generously- Ligularia naturally grows in moist, boggy settings and requires reliable moisture to perform well. It wilts dramatically in afternoon sun and dry soil- afternoon shade is beneficial in most climates. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring. The extraordinary, near-black foliage with vivid orange-yellow daisy flowers in midsummer creates one of the most dramatic contrast combinations in the plant world. Largely pest-free when properly sited with reliable moisture.
