Plant in moist to average, well-drained soil. Space 12–15 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch lightly around the base.

Water consistently after planting; once established it tolerates drought and dry shade well. Mow or shear the entire planting to 3–4 inches in early spring before new growth emerges to keep it fresh and attractive. The cream-and-green variegated foliage brightens shaded areas throughout the season. Divide every 4–5 years in spring to spread the planting or refresh older clumps. No fertilization generally needed. Largely pest-free. An excellent, long-lived, low-maintenance groundcover.
