Planting Tips

Plant in moist to wet, average soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. This is a native loosestrife- not to be confused with the invasive purple loosestrife.

Care Tips

Water consistently and generously- fringed loosestrife thrives in moist to wet conditions and is excellent for rain gardens and pond edges. It spreads modestly by rhizomes. Divide in spring to control spread if needed. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. No fertilization generally needed. Largely pest-free. The bright yellow flowers with fringed petals in early summer are cheerful and distinctive, and the plant provides valuable habitat for native wildlife. An excellent choice for moist, naturalistic plantings.
