Woodlander Pink Phlox

Plant in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep. Good air circulation at planting time helps reduce powdery mildew.

Water regularly throughout the growing season. Deadhead spent flower clusters to extend bloom and prevent self-seeding of inferior seedlings. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 3–4 years in spring when clumps become overcrowded. Monitor for powdery mildew in late summer- this woodland phlox has improved mildew resistance, but good air circulation always helps. Fertilize lightly in spring. Highly attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds.
