Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space 18–24 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch around the base.

Care Tips

Water consistently throughout the season. The variegated foliage- green, white, and pink-tinged- is the primary ornamental feature and is most vivid in cooler weather. Jacob's ladder may go semi-dormant in summer heat; cut back tired foliage and it will often re-flush in cooler fall weather. Divide every 3–4 years in early spring. Largely pest-free. An excellent perennial for cool, partially shaded borders where the multi-colored foliage lights up the planting.
