Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Space 24–30 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting. This native perennial adapts to a wide range of conditions including partial shade.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it tolerates moderate drought. The airy, white flower clusters on tall, branching stems in early summer have a delicate, frothy quality. Cut back after flowering to tidy the plant. Cut to the ground in late fall or early spring. Divide every 4–5 years in spring. Largely pest-free and deer resistant. An excellent, underused native perennial for naturalistic and woodland-edge plantings, where its fine texture and airy habit are especially effective.
