Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained soil in partial to full shade, spacing 12–18 inches apart. Shrimps on the Barbie is a lungwort variety with unusual, warm, coral-salmon flowers — an extraordinary color for a shade perennial. The flowers appear in spring above attractively silver-spotted foliage. Incorporate compost into the planting area and water well. Mulch to retain moisture.

Care Tips

After the spring bloom, cut back all foliage to the ground if it looks tired — fresh, new, spotted leaves will emerge within weeks. Keep soil consistently moist. Divide every three to four years in spring. No fertilizing needed in organically rich soil. The unusual, warm salmon-coral flower color is unlike most other spring shade perennials and provides a beautiful warm accent in the woodland garden. The silver-spotted foliage provides attractive interest all season.
