Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Space 12–18 inches apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch to retain moisture.

Care Tips

Water consistently throughout the season- celandine poppy prefers reliably moist conditions. The plant may go somewhat dormant in summer heat; cut back tired foliage and it will re-flush in cooler fall weather. Allow some self-seeding to perpetuate the planting, as it is a short-lived perennial. Divide every 3–4 years in early spring. Caution: the orange sap is a skin irritant- wear gloves when handling. Largely pest-free. The vivid, golden-yellow poppy-like flowers in spring are brilliant in shaded woodland settings.
