Deeply cut, lace-like green leaves with dramatic maroon centers create a stunning, frost-like pattern on the ground. Fragrant, sugar-pink bottle-brush flowers emerge in spring, adding a sweet touch to shady spots.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in moist, humus-rich soil in partial to full shade, spacing 12–18 inches apart. Sugar & Spice foamflower is a hybrid between foamflower and coral bells, producing attractive, mottled foliage and frothy flower spikes in spring. It forms a dense, spreading groundcover over time in shaded settings. Incorporate compost into the planting area and water well. Mulch to retain moisture.

Care Tips

Remove old foliage in early spring before new growth and flower spikes emerge. Keep soil consistently moist. Divide every three to four years in spring to manage spread or propagate. Fertilize lightly in spring. The spreading habit makes this an excellent, easy-care groundcover for shaded areas under deciduous trees. The frothy spring flowers and attractive mottled foliage provide two seasons of ornamental interest.
