Variegated foliage is rare in an azalea, and Bollywood Star® carries green leaves edged in creamy white all season, with bright pink flowers over the top in spring. This Proven Winners® selection, Rhododendron Bollywood Star, grows 18 to 24 inches tall and wide in full sun to part sun, hardy from Zone 5 through Zone 8.
The variegation is what carries the plant through the eleven months it is not flowering, which is not true of most azaleas.
The compact even size suits a container, a foundation bed, or a matched pair flanking a door.
Acidic soil is necessary, roughly pH 4.5 to 6.0, with good drainage and steady moisture. Mulch the shallow roots.
