Plant in average to lean, well-drained to dry soil. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting. Excellent drainage is essential.

Care Tips

Water regularly after planting; once established it is highly drought tolerant. Cut back hard to within 6–8 inches of the ground in early spring before new growth begins- bluebeard blooms on new wood and this annual hard pruning is essential for maintaining a compact, vigorous form. Without cutting back, plants become woody and open. Fertilize lightly in spring after pruning. Beyond Midnight® has exceptionally deep, rich indigo-blue flowers and very dark foliage- one of the most vivid and refined bluebeard selections available.
