Rise Up Amberness is a mini climber, which means it reaches 3 to 5 feet rather than the 10 or 12 a full climbing rose needs, so it fits an obelisk, a mailbox post, or a small trellis by a door. This Proven Winners® selection, Rosa 'ChewAmberness', spreads 2 to 3 feet in full sun, hardy from Zone 4 through Zone 9.
The flowers are amber and yellow with wavy petals around a classic center, and they carry a light fragrance. Bloom repeats through the season from early summer to frost.
It can also be left untrained and grown as an upright shrub, which is not true of most climbers.
Disease resistance is good, so it holds clean foliage through humid summers without an intensive spray program. Full sun and well-drained soil give the heaviest bloom. Tie the canes to the support as they grow rather than waiting until they are stiff. Shipped on its own roots.
