Pairs well with

Rise Up Lilac Days carries mauve-purple flowers, an unusual color in a rose, on a climber that reaches 5 to 8 feet rather than the ten or twelve a full-size climber needs. This Proven Winners® selection, Rosa 'ChewLilacdays', spreads 2 to 4 feet in full sun, hardy from Zone 4 through Zone 9.

The flowers come in heavy clusters and carry a strong fragrance. Bloom repeats from early summer to frost rather than giving one flush.

At this size it fits an arbor, an obelisk, a fence panel, or a trellis by a door, and it can also be grown untrained as a large upright shrub.

Disease resistance is good for a climber, and the foliage holds through humid summers without an intensive spray program. Tie the canes to the support as they grow rather than waiting until they stiffen. Shipped on its own roots.

Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in well-drained, fertile soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball. Provide a trellis, obelisk, or fence. Space 4–5 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the canes.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly throughout the season. Train new canes onto the support structure. Deadhead spent blooms for continuous flowering. Prune in early spring to remove dead or damaged canes. Fertilize with a rose fertilizer in spring and midsummer. Good disease resistance. Rise Up Lilac Days® produces soft, lilac-lavender flowers- an unusually cool and refined color for a climbing rose- in continuous flushes on a compact, manageable climber ideal for small gardens and containers.
