Spring Grove Western Arborvitae

Plant in moist, well-drained soil. Space 15–20 feet apart for screening. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the trunk.

Water deeply and regularly the first 2–3 seasons; once established it is quite adaptable and tolerates both moist and moderately dry conditions. The naturally graceful, pyramidal form requires minimal pruning. A light shaping trim in late spring can tidy any irregular growth. Fertilize lightly in spring. Monitor for bagworms. Spring Grove is a superior, more adaptable selection of western arborvitae with good resistance to winter browning and a particularly handsome, lush, dark green form. Largely otherwise pest-free.
