Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) with generous organic matter. Space 6–10 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the crown.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently- sweet azalea naturally grows in moist, woodland settings. Prune lightly immediately after flowering. Fertilize in spring with an acid azalea fertilizer. The fragrant, creamy-white to pale pink flowers in late spring to early summer are among the most sweetly scented of any native azalea- the powerful, sweet fragrance is one of the most delightful of any hardy shrub. Largely pest-free when sited with moist, acidic, organic soil. An outstanding native azalea for fragrance gardens and woodland edges.
