Salmon-pink flowers with a second bloom nested inside the first, giving each one a doubled look without the heaviness of a true double. Rhododendron 'Blaauws Pink' grows 2 to 4 feet tall and wide in full sun to part sun, hardy from Zone 6 through Zone 9.
Bloom comes in mid-spring, and the salmon tone sits between pink and coral rather than reading as either.
The small glossy leaves are evergreen, holding through winter, and the habit is dense and rounded without pruning.
Acidic soil is necessary, roughly pH 4.5 to 6.0, with good drainage and steady moisture. Alkaline ground turns the foliage yellow. Mulch the shallow roots.
