Planting Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) enriched with organic matter. Space 4–5 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep with shredded bark or pine needles, keeping mulch away from the crown.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently, especially during the first season and periods of summer drought. Azaleas have shallow root systems that dry out quickly. Prune lightly immediately after flowering if shaping is needed- buds for the following year form shortly after bloom, so pruning at any other time removes next year's flowers. Fertilize in spring with an acid-formulated azalea fertilizer. Avoid alkaline soils and high-pH water.
