Rosebud Azalea

Plant in moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) enriched with organic matter. Space 3–4 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep with shredded bark or pine needles, keeping mulch away from the crown.

Water deeply and consistently, especially during the first season and summer dry spells. Prune lightly immediately after flowering- buds for next year form shortly after bloom, so pruning at any other time removes next year's flowers. Fertilize in spring with an acid azalea fertilizer. Monitor for lace bugs on the undersides of leaves in summer. A charming, compact azalea with distinctive double, rosebud-like pink flowers.
