Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist to wet, acidic soil (pH 4.5–6.0) with generous organic matter. Space 5–8 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep, keeping mulch away from the crown.

Care Tips

Water deeply and consistently- swamp azalea naturally grows in moist, boggy woodland settings and thrives with reliable moisture. It tolerates wet conditions better than most azaleas. Prune lightly immediately after flowering to preserve next year's flower buds. Fertilize in spring with an acid azalea fertilizer. The intensely fragrant white flowers in early to midsummer are among the most powerfully scented of any native azalea. Largely pest-free when sited in moist, acidic conditions.
