Planting Tips

Plant in spring or fall in moist, well-drained soil amended with compost. Space 2–3 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch 2–3 inches deep around the base, keeping mulch away from the stems.

Care Tips

Water deeply and regularly the first two seasons; moderately drought tolerant once established but looks best with consistent moisture. Prune to shape in late spring after new growth hardens off, and again lightly in midsummer if needed. Fertilize in early spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer. Monitor for boxwood leafminer, boxwood mite, and boxwood blight. Good air circulation and sanitation help reduce disease pressure.
