Care Tips

Water consistently after planting; once established it tolerates drought and occasional wet conditions well. Remove a few of the oldest stems at the base each year after flowering to keep the plant vigorous and shapely- no heavy pruning required. The unusual, wine-red, strap-petaled flowers appear from spring through summer and are uniquely fragrant. Largely pest-free. An excellent native-inspired shrub for woodland edges and mixed borders.
