Planting and Care Guide

Planting Tips

Plant in moist to wet, well-drained to poorly drained soil. Space 5–8 feet apart. Water thoroughly after planting and mulch generously.

Care Tips

Water consistently and generously- buttonbush naturally grows in wet, boggy conditions and along stream and pond edges and thrives with reliable moisture. It tolerates extended periods of flooding. Prune in early spring to shape and remove dead wood. Fertilize lightly in spring. The spherical, pincushion-like white flowers in summer are highly attractive to pollinators and butterflies. The red-tinted new growth of this selection adds extra ornamental interest. Largely pest-free and deer resistant.
